I’m crazy about social media but not in a way you might think. I suck at social media, for the most part. I’m not much of a FaceBooker. I’m on LinkedIn but don’t leverage it as much as I probably should. I do use Twitter a heck of a lot. I’m smitten with it, actually: though not in the way ’social media mavens’ are. I see its potentials, and also its dangers. If there are more holocausts, they will be waged through social media. You need to pay attention to this possibility.
For all the noise (and even the songs), will we get social media right? Will our voices be let out over the things that matter: peace, meaning, civilization, freedom, intelligence, poetry? Or, when things get dark and speech matters more than ever, will we be “silent as sparrows in the little bushes”?
Here is Call and Answer by Robert Bly.
On Twitter, as everywhere else, lead more than you follow. Hurry: the week is coming to an end.
